Iceland has been on my bucket list for quite some time. Seeing images online of it's breathtaking beauty and affordable airfare made it even more desirable. Mary, my mother in law, was gracious enough to watch our 3 year old daughter so my husband and I decided to go on an 8 day adventure to Iceland in late September.
I had a vision to do a photography session there against the beautiful landscape so I found a local photographer, Heida, who connected me with a model, wardrobe and amazing location!
We drove to Lake Kleifarvatn, which is 20 miles south of Reykjavik (35 min drive). The weather was less than ideal (or so I thought) for an outdoor photoshoot. It was raining, very windy and cold (around 40º F).
Hjördìs was such a trooper to model for me in those conditions! The juxtaposition of a "princess" in a soft, beautiful dress against the dark, hard rocks and stormy weather created very dramatic images which I believe made them even more interesting and beautiful.
From this session, I created a series of five images - all with a slightly different look and feel.
My goal is to have at least one destination photography session every year. Wouldn't you love to have a dream destination photoshoot?
I hope you enjoy this series!
